Double exposure, a unique artistic style, combines pictures to create a single, mesmerizing piece. This artistic technique is kind of run-of-the-mill for a third-year painting and graphics arts student, but seeing a trio of artists collaborate is enough to pique anyone’s interest.
Here, Andreas Lie, Bojan Jevtic, and Ashley Wood have used their exceptional talents to weave together various images, resulting in eye-catching digital artwork that looks like it’s come straight from a smoky, futuristic world. The dynamic imagery comprising their double exposure, or this ” optical blending ” as it’s also known, is nothing short of remarkable.
The complexity of the imagery in this piece recalls the inner workings of a timepiece—a complex series of gears and components which must all function in perfect harmony, ultimately resulting in the precise, accurate functioning of the clock. The Swiss watch is considered to be one of the finest examples of horological design, and though Andreas, Bojan, and Ashley have not directly referenced this concept in the composition, they’ve nonetheless managed to replicate the complex and intricate aesthetics of the timepiece in their artwork.
Such a complex and detailed artwork may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but this piece nevertheless manages to captivate the viewer’s eye. This is due in no small part to the atmospheric lighting that these artists have skillfully incorporated across the piece – this results in areas of prodigious darkness and brilliantly colored and lit objects that immerse the viewer deeply into the art piece.
To round out the piece, the artists have incorporated the right amount of intricate detailing to highlight individual aspects of the piece and ignore the small details. Hence, the overall impact is pristine and impactful.
